Nick Stanton | Assistant Coach

Nick Stanton enters his fifth year as an assistant coach for the Adelphi University men’s basketball program in 2018-19.

Prior to arriving in Garden City, Stanton spent time as an assistant varsity basketball coach at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Ill. He served as the scouting and video coordinator and worked with the point guards and wings.

Additionally, he took on assigned tasks by the head coach including stat-taking and charting, game and practice planning, filming, recruiting, and organizing summer leagues and camps.

The team won 20-plus games back-to-back years, including two straight Chicago Catholic League Championships and a sectional title. During his time in Chicago, Stanton also was an AAU head coach for Full Package Athletics for two years and Fundamental University for one.

A student at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Stanton graduated with a bachelor of science degree in journalism and minor in U.S. history in June 2009. Following his undergraduate studies, he became the freshmen basketball coach at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago.

Originally raised outside of Boston, Stanton earned a master's degree from Adelphi in sports management.

James McCullough | Assistant Coach

James McCullough enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Adelphi University men's basketball team in 2018-19.

McCullough joined Dave Duke's staff from SUNY Martime in the Bronx, where he spent three seasons on the bench as an assistant from from 2013-16. He was

At SUNY Maritime, McCullough recruited the program's all-time leading scorer (1,532) and rebounder (1,002) in Patrick MacDonald, a three-time Skyline Conference First Team selection and two-time All-Met selection by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers' Association. In addition, he was also responsible for bringing John Licesse to the Bronx, who set the program record for career assists (404) and finished second all time with 1,333 points.

Prior to Maritime, McCullough was a varsity assistant coach at Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, N.Y. and the junior varsity head coach at Locust Valley High School.

A certified personal trainer by both the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Academic of Sports Medicine, McCullough is the founder and director of the After School Basketball Academy, where he organizes programs for boys and girls in grades 5-12, the travel basketball director and head coach of the St. Hughes Parish CYO program, and the head coach of the U9-U14 boys' teams in the Rising Stars AAU club.

He has been an independent personal trainer since 2009, and completed a degree in psychology from Adelphi in 2018.


Scott Moses | Assistant Coach

Scott Moses is in his first season as an assistant coach of the Adelphi University men's basketball team in 2018-19.

A 2014 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in sports management, Moses was an undergraduate team manager and spent much of the past seven years coaching in the high school ranks.

He spent the 2012-15 seasons as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant at Smith Vocational High School in Northampton, Mass., before becoming an assistant coach for the Springfield Commonwealth Academy prep national team and associate head coach for the SCA prep regional teams in Springfield, Mass. from 2015-17.

His most recent stop prior to entering the college ranks came at Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, Conn., where he ran player development programs and managed all aspects of the WA video program.

A native of Hauppage, N.Y., Moses is pursuing a master's degree in sports management from Adelphi.
